1. ABOUT THE PROJECT

throwOfDice is a fully on-chain blockchain art project by Loucas Braconnier aka Figure31, curated by Grida. It takes the ancient form of dice and rethinks it through smart contract logic, turning chance, choice, and relation into the core material of the work. Rather than treating the image as the main event, the project positions the system itself as the artwork.

2. WHAT MAKES IT UNIQUE

This is a collection of interconnected works. Each throw is connected to the one before and the one after through wallet-based seeding, creating a chain of traces between collectors.

Visually, throwOfDice uses a tactile language inspired by Braille and dithered dot fields, closer to printmaking, code, and conceptual structure than to a conventional image drop.

The April 1 launch on April Fool’s Day sharpens this logic, using a date associated with play and uncertainty to echo the project’s core idea.

4. WHY COLLECTORS SHOULD CARE

throwOfDice is compelling because it treats blockchain not as a certificate or distribution layer, but as the medium itself. Relation, authorship, permanence, and collector presence are built directly into the work, with everything from the physics of the throw to the orbital paths recorded fully on-chain.

This approach is deeply consistent with Loucas Braconnier’s practice, which has long explored system-based logic, persistence, and interaction in on-chain art. For him, blockchain is not simply a place to host images, but a universe where art can sustain its own rules and duration. throwOfDice brings these concerns into sharp focus: the image is both a fixed result and a living process, where one choice becomes part of a larger structure linking past and future across the collection.

5. PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION

“Digital art has evolved beyond the act of simply purchasing a digital file. It has become a space where collectors participate in a network and become an integral part of the work itself. The ecosystem designed by Figure31 is impossible to complete without the active participation of the collector.

I invite you to step beyond being a mere observer and become a part of the artwork's actual structure. For collectors who value systems, form, and the 'traces' we leave within digital culture, this is a project that simply cannot be missed.”
